... and junk shops, food, souvenirs, trams etc!
So you want to see Melbourne from its underbelly - the
bargain hunters paradise! Melbourne has hundreds of Op Shops and so a
guided tour will be the only way to see the best in the shortest time.
How many know there are at least 3 Op shops in the CBD?
The plan is to meet at the GPO where maps and itinery
can be obtained. People can join and leave us as they like. We will be
travelling on trams so people will need to buy their own ticket. This
is a voluntary tour so there will be no fees charged. At the moment the
itinery looks like this:
- Rendezvous at Melbourne GPO at 10 am (miss the
peak hour)
- City
Brotherhood St Laurence
Borries ( Not an Op shop but a maker of fine Zoot Suits)
Anonymous Posh (Second hand Clothes)
Antons (Expensive off the peg 40s gear for guys and gals)
De Elegance (New Beaded Shawls, tops)
American Vintage Clothing Co
Off to Victoria Market (Novelty Ties, beaded handbags, Souvenirs and
generally anything your heart desires)
The Junk Shop (Second hand Goods, plates, clocks, fob watches)
Lunch early at the market
- Brunswick
Episode (Recycled clothing from Europe)
Savers (The biggest op shop in Melbourne)
De Fab (Second hand 30s and 40s goods
Salvation Army
- Northcote
Old Hat (specialist 30s - 70s clothing and jewelry)
Berry Street Opportunity Shop
Greek Welfare Centre Opportunity Shop
- Fitzroy (Smith St)
ALMOST ANY SHOP WILL DO
.
If you make it to this point then we will meet
up with others for dinner at Mayfields before the workshop class and Swing
Bowling.
You will never be able to say that you have nothing to wear again!!
