The social events are the main reason for the Melbourne Lindy Exchange. Get ready for a weekend of Lindy Hopping like you've never seen (at least since MLX 2001!). A little about the main events:

Thursday Night Welcome

Pre-register for MLX and kick off the weekend in style.

The Vintage Shopping Spree

A guided tour of Melbourne’s best op shops and vintage clothing outlets.

Blues Night

Slow dancing into the wee hours.

Friday Night Hop

All the way from Canada and the United States, this night features piano duo Solomon Douglas and Gordon Webster (Back Pocket), along with Melbourne's own favourite swing diva Ms Yvette Johansson. Back Pocket have played at some of the biggest Lindy events in the world including Swing Out New Hampshire and the Austin Lindy Exchange. Yvette has packed out Bennett's Lane with her now famous Ella Fitzgerald tribute and appears regularly with the Esstee Big Band and the Yvette Johansson Quartet. This will be a night of interaction between the musicians and the dancers that you will remember for a long time.

The MLX Ball

The MLX Ball is the premiere event of the Melbourne Lindy Exchange, and will again feature Melbourne's finest 16 piece big band, the JW Swing Orchestra, and several performances not to be missed. The theme for the ball this year is Heroes and Villains of the Swing Era. Tickets go on sale on August 22.

The After Party

An unexpected treat last year as we swung it out until the early morning after the Ball.

Sunday Night Big Band

The weekend is wrapped up with yet another no-holds-barred swing dance featuring the Basie-style sounds of the 13 piece Out For The Count.
