Travel and Accommodation Information
We have put together a list of resources to help you plan your travel. This year all MLX events, including workshops and social events, will be located in venues in and around the Smith Street area in Fitzroy (City of Yarra). Smith and Gertrude Streets include dozens of very nice cafes, bars, and dance clubs, and the area is only 5 or 10 minutes from the Central Business District by tram. Around the corner is the Latin flavoured Johnston Street with its tapas bars and salsa clubs, and the famous Brunswick Street area. Alternatively, walk about 5 minutes in the other direction down Victoria Street and check out Little Saigon for some of the best Vietnamese food in town.

The MLX Precinct is also only a short walk to the Exhibition Gardens and the brand new Melbourne Museum and IMAX complex, which are popular tourist destinations.

  • Skybus about $12.00 one-way. Skybus departs from Melbourne airport every 30 minutes from 6.40am to 11.40pm. The bus travels directly to 58 Franklin Street in the CBD

Located at 701 Swanston St Carlton, very near to Lygon Street, the Italian district of Melbourne. Approximately 20 mins walk from all MLX locations, or take a 5 minute bus ride from Lygon Street along Johnston Street to Smith street. Check in time is 2 pm and check out time is 10am.

University College

Located in College Crescent, Parkville, just north of the University of Melbourne. This on-campus student accommodation is largely single rooms (single bed) with shared, unisex bathrooms. There are 12 en-suite rooms with a double bed (book early). Take a 5 minute bus ride from Lygon Street along Johnston Street to Smith street.

You may arrive any time until 6.00 pm. If you arrive after that, special arrangements will need to be made. Check out time is 10am.
